Samsung Corporation and the General Satellite Corporation announce the beginning of cooperation

  Kaliningrad region., January 25, 2010 – The signing of the Agreement on Cooperation and production of digital satellite receivers between the General Satellite Corporation (Russia) and Samsung Electronics (South Korea) took place in the Gousev, Kaliningrad region, Russia, on January 25 (Monday).
  Joint production of satellite digital receivers under the Samsung DRE 8301 brand, with video recorder function (PVR) and built-in SD-card, which is widely used in consumer electronics is just the first step provided for by the Agreement. The receiver will also support DRE conditional access system, which forms part of the only Russian control systems middleware (CSMW) for operator functioning GS 3.0, developed by the General Satellite Corporation. New receiver model will allow Samsung Electronics and the largest satellite operator "Tricolor TV" to become partners. Satellite receivers will be manufactured at the “Digital Television Systems Research and Production Association” plant (Gousev, Kaliningrad region), largest modern digital set-top box production facility in Europe. The plant is a contract manufacturer of radio-electronic equipment, it supports a full production cycle. The "Digital Television Systems Research and Production Association” is a full member of the Radio-Electronic Equipment Manufacturers and Traders Association.
  A number of decisions were taken in the course of negotiations which were held in the offices of the "Digital Television Systems Research and Production Association” JSC, regarding the conditions of supply, pricing and technical support. The parties also discussed future joint projects. Samsung delegation were headed by Mr. Hyoung Rae Woo, Vice-President of STB Biz, General Satellite Corporation was represented by its President Mr. Andrei Tkachenko.
